So my blog that I had finished jsut deleted itself which I am not happy about. But anyways, I bought a sewing machine this week! yes me with a sewing machine. It was a half impulse buy, I decided that I had to get one because I've had to sew things like 3 times now in the past 2 months, and seeing how I am a horrible hand sewer (I'd prpbably win the award for worst hand sewer if there was one) I decided that I must get one. while fiddling with a few there was an older couple just watching me the whole time. After about twn minutes I found a cheap enough one that wouldn't make me broke. I was walking up the aisle and I realized that I wasn't sure if it came with a needle or not so as I was standing in the middle of the row half way up to the front the older couple came up to me out of no where and told me to go back to the aisle that we were jsut in and that the needles were right acrossed the the machines, they even told me what kind to get! after I found the needles I was waiting in line at the register and they popped out of no where again! This time they asked me if I found everything ok and asked what me me decided to get the one I got and not a Singer? I was like uhh.... I don't know It looked nicer and easier to use?
After the 45 minutes it took me and a a friend to figure out work it and after the half a dozen times I had to throw our kitten across the room, she was tryying to sit on the machine, I took it over to the sorority house and showed 3 of my pledge sisters how to sew! yes, me, teaching others how to sew. Today even I am gonna help one of them sew their holloween costume!
So besides sewing I have taken up real cooking, not jsut things out of boxes! The only two things that I have mastered so far are Aunt Rose's fish and Melissa's cranberry orange but salade stuff. On my list to master is Sweedish pancakes, Fudge, pie, cabbage rolls (now that I know the secret) and other really yummy foods!

What? What's the cabbage roll secret? I know secrets about the beat leaf holupchees too. lol, no idea how to spell that!
BTW--- I'm very proud of your new found sewing talent. :)
Hahaha, you're so funny! I really hope that this whole sorority/sewing/cooking thing does not mean that you're going for your MRS degree now! Nevertheless, i am looking forward to that fudge.... mmmm....
NO I am NOT going for my MRS! NEVER!!!
lol, I've never heard of the MRS degree. I wonder if I could go for that.... it's the one thing I'd probably be good at!
You girls kill me. Nothings wrong with a MRS degree I have that and PHT degree. We are proud of Allies new found activitlies. I don't know why you had trouble with the glaze on the rum cake. Maybe it was boiled too long. It should have mostly been absorbed in the cake.
I was surprised that you remembered the jello we had a Alice's in Fort Lauderdale. We were at her time share. She had it around xmas for years and years. Do you remember her coming to Manhattan with us one year? Her husband was a KS grad. The lived there after WW 2 and she worked sewing.
I remember Alice! I don't remember the jello though.
The reason Melissa doesn't remember the jello is that she and Betsy were not there. They were in Manhattan. Not Florida.
Sewing machine?? Cooking??? Holy crap Allie whats going on up there in Ho-Town?? Have you been seduced to the Dark Side? I never thought my party girl would ever become domesticated. No Worries
