Cory came up this weekend(YAY!). It was originally going to be a surprise, he had it all set up with one of the sorority sisters Alyssa, he was going to fly in and she was going to pick him up. I ended up ruining my own surprise though haha so I knew he was coming, he actually told me he was going to come up. Cory got in Thursday night on the late flight and then Friday I had to work for a couple hours in the afternoon so he just hung out all day at the house with the girls and then when I got off work we went and saw his old boss from up here at school that he's been keeping in touch with. Saturday was pretty much the same along with Sunday, but Sunday we went out to dinner which was fun!
Besides Cory's visit not too much has been going on, just school and work. Schools been going good I can't believe that I'm already half way done with the track. Work is great too, I'm a tour guide on campus what other job can you find where you get to walk around and talk about a place you know about and meet new people everyday and talk to them? It's pretty much the best!

Is it done yet?...Its getting old, I'm getting old!
No, of course it's not done yet! And will probably never be done!!! Right now the sorority house is getting a new roof. It's really not a big deal except that I live up in the attic so all I hear all day long is pounding on the roof. They wake me up nice and early at 8:00 every morning for the past week and a half now and then continue until about 5:00 in the evening. Whats worst about it is that when they are above my bed ( two feet away from my head because of the slant in the walls) each pound that they make shakes my bed...Its SO annoying!!!!
Enough of my ranting and complaning. Today I was reading my Newsweek (yes, I'm a ner I have a subscription to it) I came across an article that started out as ' 20 years ago in the summer of 1987...' When I first started reading it, before I got the the 1987 part, I was like hmm I wonder what year it was, and then I realized that it was '87. Thats when it actually hit me that I'm going to be 20 in 3 days! I'm excited for my birthday! YAY!!!

Oh the travels
This past week has been kind of hectic. Last Sunday Cory and I went down to Watersmeet for his cousins graduation, after that we went down to Gladstone to see Betsy and Trent and got way way lost in the middle of no where for like an hour down a dirt road. We finally made it though we spent Monday down in Gladstone, we went to the parade and a bbq. Monday night we headed back up to Houghton just to do laundry all day and pack up the car because Wednesday we went downstate to see Cory's parents before heading out to Maryland because Cory starts work on Monday. We stayed down there until Friday evening and then started the drive out to Maryland. We got in at about 3:00 Saturday afternoon. Didn't really do too much unpacked the car, ate dinner and became ultimate bargin shoppers!!! We were able to get a $1300 matress for $640!!!! It was pretty great.
Tuesday night before we left for downstate me and Alyssa threw Cory a surprise going away party. It wasn't very big which was nice becasue we knew everyone there for the most part, just some of Cory's good friends that are in town for the summer and the rest of the girls in the house. Alyssa and I made him a big banner that said 'Good luck Cory' on it and everyone that was there signed it and left a little message for him. We were pretty sneeky about the whole thing too. We said we had to run some errands and were going out to eat to have some girly time before I left for the trip when we really went to go set up and make the banner. That night Alyssa said she was wanted to take Cory out for a drink before he left. They went out and I went over to the fraternity house we were having it at to get the last couple of things in place and waited with everyone till he got there with Alyssa. We were all really happy how it turned out, it was a lot of fun and a good turn out all in all.

Me domesticated? Take Two
Schools out and now and I'm living in the sorority house for the summer and next school year. I share the attic with 2 other girls but its devided into our own bedrooms. I decided to make some curtains for my room because otherwise its just open with no door and if people are up there they could see me change and it adds a bit more privacy and more of a room feeling. So I went and got material (its plaid and way fun) and took out my sewing machine. Come to find out it was broken :( it sounded like a gear was broken inside of it and it wouldnt do anything at all jsut make a really sad noise at me. I got it fixed though and now it works! I must say I am very proud of the work I did with the curtains, they pretty much look fantastic! Besides that whole fiasco I've also been cooking a lot. This week alone between me and Cory we've made a chicken stuffed with stuffing, a roast thing and potatoes, bread, homemade KFC chicken bowls, and homemade soup using the rest of the chicken.

Calla Lillies
Calla Lillies are my favoritest flowers of all times. They're so pretty and happy...Well, most of them anyways. My Calla Lily plant is sad and droopy and wilty, im makes me get a teary eyed thinking about it...ok not really, but it does make me sad! LUCKILY theres good news about my plant thanks to the wonderful internet! ITS NOT DYING!!!! According to the research that I have done while investigating whether or not I had killed my plant, Calla Lillies are supposed to be watered with destilled water and not just tap water, something to do with the salt and other mineral contents in it. Another reason why it was starting to look so sad was becasue apparently I forgot to water it for about a week maybe a little longer. (oops!) But its ok now that I know how to take care of my flowers they will be the most beautiful ones on the block! YAY for the internet saving my flowers!!!! Now lets just hope I remember to water them.

My cell phone rocks!!!
I am absolutely horrible with phones as most of you probably know already. I have gone through enough cell phones for one person to last years already this year alone. my new contract started beginning of January when I got my new phone 20 days later it had gotten water damaged. LUCKILY I got insurance on my phone so I was good. Unfortunately a month later I lost my phone. I have no idea what happened to it, it was never found :( Well with the phone insurance I have you only get 2 new phones a year. With the rate I was going on I bought the new one out of pocket off E-bay. This time I bought a LG Chocolate phone, not a cheap investment to buy without a contract I will say even if it was from e-bay. And what happens to this one?? Gets lost!!!!! I searched everywhere high and low for it. After not having a phone for 2 weeks I decided that it was time to call Verizon and tell them it had been lost. I call them up and they try to tell me that I have to file a police report for the lost phone, I was already frustrated so I decided that I didn't want to deal with the police report stuff so I decided to put it off again. Good thing I did though because what showed up the next afternoon?! MY PHONE!!! YAY!!! Two of my sorority sisters found it in a melting snowbank across the street from the sorority house!!! You'd think a phone that had been in a snowbank for 2 weeks would be ruined and water damaged but no! it still works!!! I had it in a case which is now destroyed, the paint is completely wore off and the belt clip is snapped off too, it looks like it was dragged by a snowplow. The only damage that was done to the phone is there are 2 gash like dents in the battery cover and the lens for the camera is cracked (the camera still works perfectly though!) my phone also has a new rattle to it too if you shake it. Besides those few minor things it still works! Another reason why the LG Chocolate is an amazing phone is because one of my pledge sisters has the same phone and accidentally put hers in the drier with her coat and hers is still fine too!

YAY! springs here!!!!........April Foolin'!
I officially hate snow! it had all melted and it had been beautiful outside (for the U.P. this time of year at least) and now its snowing again!!!! Last Friday I was out and about wearing a skirt and the day before that a short sleeve shirt. But I guess the month of April just likes to play big jokes on us up here because last night it started snowing and hasn't stopped yet! We've gotten about 5ish inches i'd say. Its kinda hard to tell because its blowing around like a mad man out there. accoding to the weather we are supposed to get 10 inches on the ground by tonight too. Who really knows whats gonna happen though becasue half the time the weather man is wrong anyways.
Besides being upset at the weater I've just been living life. Nothing too exciting going on in the world these days except for the count down until the semester is done. Only four weeks to go!!!

Life in general
So today i realized that there is only 5 weeks left until the end of the semester. I can't believe how fast its been going!!! last week was spring break, didn't do anything exciting really. Me and Cory went down state to see his family the Thrursday before break actually started. Neither of us had class that day, mine was canceled, so we decided to take off early. We were only down there for the weekend and then came back up to Houghton and just hungout and was lazy for the week with everyone else that was in town still. Wednesday of break me and some friends decided to take a mini road trip down to Appleton, WI we went shopping and stayed the night down there and headed back up in the afternoon.
Besides that lifes been good, its finally started to warm up here. It's absolutly beautiful today sunny and in the high 40's! Although it feels like its warmer then that. Thats about it though for now.

School canceled...WHAT?!
The snow is still falling but not that hard. It doesn't even really seem like we got all that much because it was all blowing so the cars weren't coevered, although it was about knee deep behind my car when I was trying to go to the bank today. But anyways thats not what this is about. Tech actually canceled classes today!! I don't even know the last time that its happend there have been none for at least the past 5 years!

A new favorite...
I decided that I have another favorite thing to do in the winter, SNOWSHOEING!!!! It's actually a lot of fun and not nearly as difficult, or as much as a workout, as I thought it was going to be. Yesterday after I finished studying me and Cory were looking for something to do and we decided to go snowshoeing out by some waterfalls in the area. I had never been so I obviously don't own a pair of snowshoes so I borrowed Chelle's, once I figured out how to strap those bad boys on we were off. I'm guessing the walk out to the waterfall was about a mile(not too sure), along the way your never gonna believe what we saw, a bug!!! in the middle of winter! We were so confused, if anyone knew that bugs could live in the winter please tell me because this is surely news to me. We actually saw more then one we saw a bazillion ( my code for a lot).
As of today at about 5:00 I'm not looking forward to tomorrow evening/Friday all day beacause apparently we have a blizzard warning for the two days ugh! I'm so sick of winter already, I just want it to end for about a week then it can come back. I just hate that everything is slushy time. Thats kind of how its been for the past couple of days at least for the roads, its been in the high 20's and low 30's (HEAT WAVE AGAIN!!!) but snowing quite abit.

been a while...
It's been awhile since my last post so here's the update on everything so far. Carnival went pretty good we ended up taking 4th placefor the sororities, I thought we should have placed higher but whatever I'm proud of the job we did. the rest of Carnival break I guess was ok, had some drama in it. Friday we had our Happy Hour which went good and then on Saturday we had Cocktail party which was a lot of fun, a bunch of people jsut hung out at our sorority house and ate food.
Valentines day also wasn't very exciting, although I did have two Valentines!! haha, Ashley, one of my pledge sisters, and Cory. Me and Ashley had a date that night we went to KFC together and then had rush. Cory was busy all day so we had to postpone our plans until Thursday. He did send me flowers though. I guess he almost got into a fight with the Flower people because he ordered Cala lillies for me like 2 weeks in advanced and when he got to the shop they said that they didn't have any so he got me lillies and roses instead, I still thought they were pretty. Thrusday he cooked me dinner and we rented a movie too.
This week is so busy! Three exams, a quiz and a paper due! UGH! I can't wait for spring break, only two weeks YAY!!! I'm still not sure what I'm doing for it yet, I think I have it narrowed down to staying up here and hanging out or staying up here for part of it and going downstate for the other part. Oh another thing I realized yesterday we only have 8 weeks till the end of the semester! AH!!!!!!
As you can see my life is boring so when something unboring comes up I'll update again.

There's snow on the ground...WEAR A COAT!
living in the U.P. and giong to school up here we get lots of snow, I don't think that some people understand that snow equals cold outside. There are so many people that are walking around without coats or some even in shorts! I don't understand. there is one person on campus that wears shorts and a tee everyday with earmuffs! why can't people just accept the fact that we aren't in a warm place!
on another note its time for Carnival once again! YAY!!! Statue is comming along good so far we are on schedule I still have 8 hours to get in this week though, ugh! and next week I only have 3 days to get in 10 hours then its time for the all nighter! Games for carnival started last night too with Ice bowling. I was on the team for it, I got to be the ball! it was pretty fun minus that I am now bruised from hitting down the pins. I was a exellent ball though on a side note because we made it to the finals which are tonight...wish us luck!
a few other side notes, 1.) I'm so excited we have a new pledge class for my sorority, Gamma Pi, they pin tomorrow! I can't wait to see the other side of everything to see how it all process works! 2.) I got beat up by a pole today in the business computer lab. I was running late for class this morning (stupid computer / printer problems) so I had to run to the lab to print off my homework, I turned around and ran head first into a pole and now I have a giant red bump on my forehead. well thats it for now, I'll let ya know how carnival goes next week!

School days school days good old fashion rule days!
School started back up tuesday, oh joy! I guess I really can't complain though I'm only taking 15 credits this semester, done by noon on both Tuesday and Thrusday and on Friday I have one class from 11:00-noon so it's not that bad at all. I could have taken more credits but then that would of put me at taking 8a.m.s four days a week again this semester and I learned my lesson last semester to NEVER do that again, its pure torture of never getting to sleep in.
So far my classes don't seem to terribley bad, I have friends in all of them YAY! compared to no friends what so ever in my classes last semester. AND I already have a study buddy for one of my classes! I'm kinda worried about my Marketing class, I think he is going to be rediculous on somethings, like if you have 2 100% and then a 65% you get a "C" I don't understand how that averages? Also, if not everybody participates in group discussion everybody gets docked points for it, not just the people who didn't participate in class! The only thing that will make the class fun is the little side comments he makes. Today in class I learned many great things which were:
1.) There is such a thing as "sticky" knowledge.
2.) You can tell a persons job by looking at them example- two people are standing next to eachother a accountant and a marketing major. You would be able to tell which one was who by not even talking to them.
3.)1/2 of 2/3 of people are marketing people.
4.) everybody needs a connection with China or a chinesse connection, it will help your career someday! (The instructor is from China on a Side note).
Besides Marketing my classes don't seem too bad, I think a couple of my instructors might be a little crazy though, guess we'll just have to wait and see!

Moon River, Wider than a mile....
So I decided that my favorite song is "Moon River" today, actually a while ago I just redecided today after listening to it. It's such a pretty song and makes me happy when I listen to it. Doesn't even matter who sings it although I will say that the Frank Sanatra version is the best.
Besides my renewed found love for Moon River nothing else is new besides me not getting the same flight back to the U.P. as Golda and Jeremy. Luckily while they were still at Melissas we checked our iteneraries and found out that I some how managed to make my reservations for the next day, same times just wrong date, so now I got to spend an extra day in Kansas. Melissa is gonna drive me up to Kansas City tomorrow morning and then on Monday I fly out to go see Betsy and Trent! I don't mind spending more time down here, I feel bad about the inconvience I am causing Melissa though now, but I'm not missing spending an extra day in Gladstone at all. That's about it for now though update everybody later!

I heart hats!
I decided today that hats are a good accesory, they can be used for so many different reasons here is my list of things that hats are good for.
1.) keeping the sun out of your eyes
2.) keeping the sun off your face/ neck
3.) keeping your head warm in the winter
4.) covering your hair from getting wet ( the rain coat hat things, I don't know that correct term for them)
5.) a street preformer can put them on the ground to collect money in them
6.) the can hold beverages sometimes so you don't have to hold a cup
7.) my personal favorite, covering your hair when you haven't showered and you really need one but have to go to class.
I pulled off number 6 today, I decided to sleep in rather then take a shower this morning the results, me covering up my beautiful hair with a hat and tromping off to class and nobody even knew! don't worry, I came home during my break and showered so now I smell nice and clean!
Another good thing about hats is that they come in so many different styles!!!

YAY for Gamma Omicron!!!!
So Friday morning at 5:30(ish) a.m. my pledge class (Gamma Omicron) at the sorority went through! YAY! Us four girls are now sisters!! It was really exciting but very tiring because we didn't get any sleep that night. After we got our letters, the sisters asked what we wanted to do, go to sleep or stay up and celebrate.we were way to excited to sleep so we decided to celebrate. We ended up walking across the alley to one of the Frats and waking them all up by banging pots and pans in the hall and screaming. I don't think the guys were to happy about that one but they put on smiles and congratualted the four of us. Needless to say the drowsiness started hitting us again pretty quickly and we all ended up leaving to go and sleep. I ended up sleeping until after 2:00 and still didn't quite feel completely rested, although I will say that that was the best nap ever in the world. Unfortunatly the rest of my weekend was just as busy so I still didn't get much sleep because Saturday the sorority and one of the frats threw our annual Christmas party for the kids that we mentor. After that a bunch of the girls went out to eat and to do some other things and then it was off to Phi Kaps formal for the night. Once I figure out how to get pictures on here I will put some on of the Gamma Omicron girls and formal.

Winter is here....About time!
I love winter, but yet hate it so much at the same time. Here is a list of the pros and cons of winter.
Pros:
Snow, Christmas (Lights, the tree, decorations, the smell, and the holiday!), Sledding, Snowboarding, Skiiing, Broomball, Winter Carnaval here at Tech (best time of the year!!), Snow Statues, Hot chocolate (Free hot chocolate during carnaval), having the excuse to sit on the couch with a blanket, Candy canes, Snowmen, snowball fights (when your not getting hit), looking outside knowing how cold it is but you are nice and toasty inside, catching snow flakes on your tounge as they fall, watching people slip on the ice.
Cons:
Shoveling the 3 feet of snow that fell the night before, Snow getting into your shoes, soaked mittens, cold cars, sweeping off your car, scraping ice off the windsheild, ice in general, slipping, shoveling out your car, face washes, not having snowdays because the school got sued or something like that last time they had one, getting lost on your way to class because it's snowing so bad out, driving in snow, being cold. if you have to wear dress shoes / heals in the snow that is NEVER fun! winter lasting 5 months.
Oh the joys of going to school up north in the middle of nowhere when winter lasts for over half of the school year! At least winter gives us something to do and to look forward too! Because I know it wouldn't be the same up here if we didn't have a place to snowboard /ski at and winter carnaval is so much fun!!!
